Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona are currently in need of a proven striker especially after they allowed Luis Suarez to leave the club at the end of last season. The exit of Suarez left a huge void at the club that needs some filling, and they have been preparing a list of potential transfer targets they will try to get in the summer.
Martinez was also ready to seal a switch to Spain but the Blaugrana’s reluctance to pay his transfer fee was a huge problem that stopped the transfer from making its way to the light. However, they are preparing to return for the striker this summer and are expected to make a bid for him.
It’s hard to figure out which attacker Barcelona will sign in the summer, given that they are being currently linked with three players for that same position. They have targeted Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Lyon’s Memphis Depay for that role but it looks like they will be signing just one of the trio.
According to multiple reports, including transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Erling Haaland’s father, and his agent Mino Raiola both met with Barcelona on Thursday to hold transfer negotiations about a possible transfer of the prolific Norwegian striker to Barcelona.
It is yet to be confirmed how progressive the talks were, but both the agent and the father of the striker reportedly met with Real Madrid representatives as well in a bid to get the best offer for the star striker.
A deal for Martinez could be up in the air if Barca secure Haaland’s signing.
